Managing Debt-Related Stress

Practical, evidence-based ways to lower the day-to-day stress of carrying debt while you work on the numbers.

Section 1 of 6

Debt hands you two separate problems: the financial one (a balance and an interest rate) and the physiological one (a stress response that runs in the background of your days). They feed each other, but they respond to different tools — and you don't have to solve the money problem before you're allowed to treat the stress.

In fact, it usually works the other way around. Lowering the stress load first improves sleep, focus, and decision-making — exactly the resources you need for the financial side. Managing your stress isn't a distraction from the plan; it's part of the plan.
